Dark berry fruits with subtle vanilla and mocha

2010 Katnook Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon

About the wine

Odyssey defines quintessential Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, produced from the region’s distinctive terra rossa soils and crafted with the luxury of great attention to detail. It will cellar gracefully for up to 15 years from vintage.

A wine with ripe, rich fruit combined with complex oak and barrel matured flavors. Odyssey is highly awarded and is one of 53 wines listed in the ‘Outstanding’ category of the Langton’s VI, Classification of Australian Wine.

Since 1980, Senior Winemaker Wayne Stehbens has passionately crafted the Katnook Estate range from selected distinguished vineyards, with a philosophy that reflects the essence of Coonawarra’s unique terroir. Steeped in heritage and tradition, the Estate range is recognised and awarded both locally and internationally for its exceptional hallmark quality and unique Coonawarra style.

2010 Coonawarra vintage was not only as one of the earliest, it was one of the best. The combination of a warm spring and warmer and drier conditions during veraison were conducive to an early harvest, almost two weeks earlier yet at optimum maturities. The wines show good fruit aromatics, wonderful depth of flavors, excellent color with soft tannins.

Oak maturation for 30 months in a combination of French and American small oak Barriques. Approx. 56% were new French barrels and 6% new American barrels with the remainder being one and two year old barrels.

An intricately layered and complex array of oak maturation and ripe fruit aromas. Hints of mocha and roast coffee bean laced with vanilla overlay ripe plum & subtle mulberry fruit. A richly laden palate of oak and ripe fruit flavors smoothly interwoven with extended oak maturation.

Food Pairing
