When the Ferrer’s first came from Barcelona, Spain to Sonoma County, California in the 1980s, there was not a single sparkling wine house in Carneros. But The Mediterranean climate, with its sloping hills and maritime influences, made the Ferrer’s reminiscent of their native Catalonia, and they knew the land would be well suited for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the two most important sparkling wine grapes.

Mike Crumly, VP of Production, along with Bob Iantosca, Executive Winemaker, and Steve Urberg, Winemaker, have created more award-winning California sparkling wines than any other winemaking team. Their collaboration, distinguished by meticulous clonal trials and groundbreaking research, continues to have a profound effect on the expression of the vineyard-driven sparkling and estate varietal wines of Gloria Ferrer.
