Tasting Notes

The white wine has strong aromas of tropical and stone fruits on the nose with a touch of perfumed white flower.

The mouth expands upon the fruit with generous peach, pineapple and green apple supported in the background by the light toast from sweet, French oak. Bright acidity pulls this all together and makes for a crisp finish.

“Well-structured, with juicy richness to the Fuji apple, Bosc pear and ripe melon flavors, supported by fresh acidity. The taut finish features light buttery and pastry accents.”

Food Pairings

This top-rated Carneros Chardonnay is a beautiful match for Ginger chili shrimp skewers with grilled peach and jalapeño salsa. Tropical fruit flavors hold up well to pineapple and brown sugar cobbler with crème fraîche ice cream. For the cheese course use soft cheeses akin to St. Andre or La Tur, apricot mango compote and roasted Marcona almonds.

The spring of 2017 brought record rainfall to break the six year drought parching California. The late rains provided plenty of water to the vines for a vigorous start to the growing season. Throughout the growing season hot weather kept the grapes ripening quickly, but plenty of vegetation from strong spring growth provided some protection from the heat. Harvest began about 10 days earlier than average. A couple of heat spikes during harvest created some anxiety, but we had the grapes harvested before the peak of the heat. Fortunately we were able to pick all of the grapes at their optimum ripeness to produce outstanding Sonoma Carneros wines from the vintage.
