A prestige cuvée with layered complexity

2007 Royal Cuvée

About the wine

A showcase for our estate vineyard, Gloria Ferrer has been perfecting the Royal Cuvée since we served the first vintage to the King and Queen of Spain in 1987.

Only the first pressing of select Carneros grapes is used to craft this wine. Then the wine is aged in our underground caves for over eight years with a predominant blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The wine opens with green apple, citrus and honey on the nose. This continues into the mouth

adding black cherry and brioche with Asian pear. The mouse is fine-textured and creamy. Light mineral character and Meyer lemon continue into a long, crisp finish.

This 2007 blend benefited from a late harvest and long hang time which produced fully flavored fruit with excellent acidity.

What the critics say about the 2007 vintage…

“The later disgorging of this wine made from 67% Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay has given it a complexity of texture and flavor that’s compelling, an older golden-apple and dried apricot sensibility that’s intriguing on the nose and palate. Sizzling acidity makes for a crisp, dry wine, with lengthy finish.” – 93 pts: Wine Enthusiast (December 2015)
