2006 Blanc de Blancs
Made exclusively from hand-harvested Chardonnay, our 2006 Blanc de Blancs is the superb result of meticulous grape growing, artisanal cellar practices and our winemaker’s considerable blending skills. Blanc de Blancs is prized among sparkling wine connoisseurs for the rich textural qualities, complex aromas and flavors, elegance and solid aging potential that Chardonnay offers.
Tasting Notes
An extremely fine, effusive mousse carries mouthwatering aromas of crisp, ripe apple, Asian pear, Meyer lemon and brioche emanating from this elegant wine. On the palate, the wine is almost lush, full and creamy yet clean and refreshing, with beautifully integrated flavors of ripe pear, lemon meringue, vanilla and lovely mineral notes on a fresh, well balanced and enduring finish.
Winemaking Notes
The vintage began slowly with a cool, wet spring and a frost that reduced crop by a third. The delayed season proved a blessing in July when temperatures spiked to over 100 degrees for a few days because most clusters still consisted of green, hard berries not as susceptible to heat damage. Cool weather returned until harvest, prolonging the ripening process and, combined with moderate yields, produced fully flavored fruit with excellent acidity.
