Tasting Notes

This Pinot Noir opens with aromas of cranberry and violets with a slight hint of spice.

Balanced tannins lend to a rounded mouthfeel and flavors of cranberry and black currant supported by moderate toasty oak. The acid is bright and leaves a long, persistent finish.

Food Pairings

Bold black fruit flavors paired with cedar blend together providing a profile fit for roast chicken with cherry chipotle sauce or ham with a blackberry rum glaze. The touches of oak and earth combined with luminous acidity complement aged hard cheeses such as Pecorino Romano, Smoked Gouda or Mezzo Secco.

The growing season of 2016 got off to an early start with mild weather through the summer allowing the grapes to ripen at a moderate rate developing deep and intense character. As a result of the early spring, harvest came early too, beginning a full 2 1⁄2 weeks earlier than average. Mild weather through the harvest brought the fruit in at a slow pace allowing us to pick each block at its optimal ripeness. The yields were average & the fruit quality was excellent.
