2006 Blanc de Blancs

The term “library” does not assign a specific age to the wine, rather it suggests that the wines are from a very limited collection and have been gracefully aging and waiting to be opened by a lucky wine lover. Our sparkling library wines are our favorite vintages reserved in limited quantities to be stored in our cellar as they continue the aging process. We keep them on the yeast for many years after their original release so they are aged to perfection. From our cellar to yours, we bring you the 2006 library Blanc de Blancs.

A rich sparkling wine with notes of pear and citrus on the nose.

Orange, papaya and toast flavors throughout with a fine edge of sourdough yeast.

“Scents of lemon and almond nougat skate along the bubbles of this wine, round, smooth and pleasantly sweet. It finishes cool and brisk, a refreshing sparkler for aperitifs.”

The 2006 vintage began slowly with a cool, wet spring and a frost that reduced crop by a third. The delayed season proved a blessing in July when temperatures spiked to over 100 degrees for a few days because most clusters still consisted of green, hard berries not as susceptible to heat damage. Cool weather returned until harvest, prolonging the ripening process and, combined with moderate yields, produced fully flavored fruit with excellent acidity.
