A Bubbly Made for Royalty

Since our 2005 Royal Cuvee was just named one of the Top 100 Wines of 2013 by San Francisco Chronicle, it seemed like the perfect time to talk about what makes this wine just so… Royal.

It all began back in the 80’s. 1987 to be exact. King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain made a visit to California and we wanted to create a 445_royal_cuvee_1sparkler that was extra special and would surely impress them. Well it did, and the name stuck, and since then we have continued to produce this wine for all to enjoy year after year.

Our Royal Cuvee is a  prestige bottling that showcases the superb quality of the grapes grown on our 335 acre estate vineyard in Sonoma’s Carneros. The structure and the mouthfeel of this wine have evolved since its creation as the vineyard blocks have matured. Made only from the first pressing of hand-picked grapes, this classic Brut blend of 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 Chardonnay offers the delicacy and exuberance of perfectly ripe fruit integrated with complexities derived from over five years of aging on the yeast.

What we love about this sparkler is that it can pair perfectly with a variety of appetizers (perfect for the holidays) in particular Brie or aged Gouda cheeses. Or set it on the table while you dish up steamed mussels and cream based fish and chicken entrees.

Or better yet, just sip it by itself, because you don’t have to be royalty to enjoy it
