2016 Vionta albariño
About the wine
Rías Baixas, Spain
Vionta is named after Isla Vionta, an island off the Atlantic coast that is part of a national park created to protect seabirds. Just as the Isla Vionta is a cherished symbol of the region, our Vionta wine is a quintessential representation of Albariño from Rías Baixas.
Cool and verdant, DO Rías Baixas is regarded as the most phenomenal white wine region of Spain. Located above Portugal, the region features deep, wide inlets of sea water called “rías” that run inland from the Atlantic, creating a mild, rainy maritime climate.
Few white wines reach the quality of Vionta. Technological investment in a slow, cool fermentation process makes the wine fresh and crisp. It is then aged on its lees for a minimum of 6 months, creating a full-bodied and complex wine.
Rich, generous floral aromas. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied with fresh acidity bursting with tropical citrus fruit, green apple, banana, kiwi and melon. The wine finishes with lingering, aromatic & characteristically bitter components.
