Catalan Festival Grape Stomp

Catalan Festival Grape Stomp - Buy Tickets

How much juice can you extract in 3 minutes? Teams of two compete in the hope of being named the world's greatest grape stomp team at this year's 21st Anniversary Catalan Festival. The Stomper stands in a barrel full of grapes, and squishes out the juice with their feet. The Swabby stands below the barrel and keeps the juice flowing into the jug by pulling grape skins away from the screen and pushing juice toward the pipe.

Price: $20 per 2-person team.
Limited to 8 teams. A Catalan Festival ticket purchase is required to compete in this juicy competition.

Spain used to be a cluster of different kingdoms — Aragon and Catalonia, Valencia, Castilla — each with its own language, culture, heritage and royal family. Eventually, by marriage or conquest, it all became one country. In the northeast of Spain, Catalonia has kind of an urban, yet Mediterranean feel to it. A lot of artists and entrepreneurs come from there as opposed to other regions that are more agricultural. Barcelona, Catalonia's enchanted city, is often referred to as Paris with palm trees.
